Ash Wednesday - February 17

Posted on February 11, 2021 in: General News

Ash Wednesday may look a little different this year…. The health situation caused by Covid19 continues to force changes on daily life, which are also reflected in the Church. On Ash Wednesday, the priest will bless the ashes and sprinkle them with holy water. Then he will recite once, for all present, “Repent and believe in the Gospel” or “Remember that you are dust, and to dust you shall return”. At that point he will put on his mask, cleanse his hands, and distribute ashes to those who come to him. Parishioners will approach and he will sprinkle ashes on each person’s head without saying anything. All other Covid guidelines remain in effect as does the suspension of the obligation to attend Mass.

Ash Wednesday Services:

Holy Cross Church – 7:00 am and 7:00 pm

Immaculate Heart of Mary – 11:30 am
